Building Science: HVAC Size
HVAC systems are almost always over-sized, making our homesĀ uncomfortable and inefficient. It is actually less efficient for an over-sized HVAC system to turn on and off all day, than a small system to run most of the time.
Short cycling also creates large floor-to-ceiling temperature stratification, and never fully warms the walls and furniture, making us feel cold.
Most importantly, the duct size required for large equipment to run efficiently is too large to fit properly in most homes.
