The APPLE Center is located at 412 Commercial Street in historic Nevada City, California.

The 800 sq.ft. building was originally built in 1931 by the US Forest Service as a dispatch center, and APPLE received the funding to lease the building in 2009. The center now exemplifies green building and energy efficiency practices due to the relatively recent sustainable remodeling project that extensively revamped the building. You can come in to see first-hand all the ways we’ve improved or read about it on this website.

The center is the home to our resource library, computer research stations, lots of free information in the form of exhibits, pamphlets, and volunteer knowledge, and our gift shop. We aim to be a resource for people to educate, prepare, and express themselves with regards to a more sustainable, less fossil-fuel dependent lifestyle, as well as a hub for community movement towards a post peak-oil lifestyle.

We primarily serve Western Nevada County residents but welcome tourist visitors alike and love hearing what sustainability efforts they’re making in their home towns.  We’re here to share information, learn from each other and encourage each other’s efforts in this great transition to local, resilient communities.

The Center is open Wednesday through Sunday 11am to 5pm.  Please visit us!
